Bandera ISD News Release
BANDERA ISD EARNS RECOGNIZED RATING
Bandera, Texas ● August 2, 2006

Bandera ISD was officially notified by the Texas Education Agency that the District had earned a “Recognized” rating, the second highest rating in the state’s accountability system for 2006. Less than 27 percent of the districts in the State, including Charter Schools, earned this similar rating.

For a district to earn a recognized rating: 70 percent or more of all students had to pass the Texas Assessment of Knowledge and Skills test; have a high school completion rate of at least 85%; and an annual drop out rate of 0.7 percent or lower. Analyzing campus by campus breakdowns, three schools – Alkek Elementary, Hill Country Elementary, and Bandera Middle School each earned “Recognized” ratings, with Bandera High School earning a rating of “Academically Acceptable”.
“Our students and staff need to be very proud of the efforts they have made,” stated Dr. Kevin Dyes, superintendent. “Fantastic things are happening in our classrooms. It’s great to see that Bandera ISD is not only one of the best districts in the Hill Country, but also one of the top districts in the state.”

Bandera ISD’s passing rate on the Texas Assessment of Knowledge and Skills for all students was: 81 percent in Math, 90 percent in Reading/English Language Arts, 93 percent in Writing, 88 percent in Science, and 94 percent in Social Studies. Bandera ISD’s annual drop out rate was 0.1 percent with a high school completion rate of 99.4 percent.
